Residents of the Berry Creek Subdivision and surrounding neighborhoods in Georgetown are deeply concerned about the proposed Berry Creek Shared-Use Trail project. This initiative, while intending to connect communities, appears to overlook the significant impacts it could impose on our privacy, security, environment, and fiscal priorities.

Firstly, our privacy and property rights are at stake. The proposed alignment of this trail might cross or run adjacent to private properties, disrupting the privacy and quiet enjoyment that many of us cherish in our homes. This prospect is alarming and requires immediate reconsideration.

Furthermore, safety and security are paramount to our community. An increase in foot and bicycle traffic would bring unfamiliar visitors through our residential areas. Many families are understandably concerned about the safety implications for their children and property as a result.

The environmental and maintenance impacts also bear consideration. Constructing a trail through our natural creek areas could lead to unintended alterations in drainage, wildlife, and erosion patterns, potentially causing long-term ecological harm. We must approach this with caution and respect for our natural surroundings.

Moreover, the project's fiscal responsibility is questionable. One of the parks this project is supposed to connect to does not yet exist. Investing millions of dollars in a trail with limited demonstrated community demand seems premature and financially unsound.

Finally, public input has been noticeably sidelined. Despite numerous residents voicing concerns at recent meetings, the project continues to progress without adequately addressing these objections. Our voices must be heard and considered before moving forward with plans that significantly affect our community.

We urge the City of Georgetown and Williamson County to avoid the proposed Berry Creek Shared-Use Trail project. Your support is vital in ensuring that our community's privacy, safety, environment, and fiscal prudence are preserved. Please sign this petition to stand with us against this ill-conceived project.

We, the undersigned, call on the City of Georgetown and Williamson County to cancel the proposed Berry Creek Shared-Use Trail project.

This project threatens to compromise our community’s privacy, safety, and natural environment while diverting public funds away from higher priorities. We urge city and county officials to reconsider and halt this project before it causes irreversible impacts to the Berry Creek neighborhood and surrounding areas.
