Hazard Pay/Risk Stipends for Essential Personnel

Essential Personnel are generally defined as the faculty and staff who are required to report to their designated work location, to ensure the operation of essential functions or departments during an emergency. We are in a time of crisis. We are relying on mothers, fathers, and caretakers to provide aid to patients (general public) when they do not have the proper and/or additional resources to take care of their own homes and families. We can’t expect essential
staff to focus on work when their own health and homes are at risk. Just as much as these brave individuals are needed at work, they are dually needed at home. Being in high risk environments, increasing chances of exposure and essential personnel do not have the luxury to quarantine in which develops peace of mind. Hazard pay and Risk Stipends should be implemented during times of crisis.
