Large-scale solar facilities can be a measurable part of economic development in Warren County, and when properly regulated, solar facilities do not pose any risk or cause any impact to neighboring properties or community.
Failing to update the current Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) to be in line with standard industry restrictions and regulations would close the door on all future solar development and any community benefits such development provides. Not only does the current UDO unfairly, and rashly, restrict future development, but it also fails to take full advantage of the opportunity Warren County has to create true partnerships with future developers.
A comprehensive, informed UDO ensures future development in Warren County supports the community’s economic vitality and longevity, while maintaining landowners’ rights. The UDO should not be so restrictive as to deter any and all future development. Rather, it ought to be so comprehensive and thoughtfully crafted that it attracts the best development opportunities to Warren County.
We, the undersigned citizens of Warren County, urge the Warren County Board of Commissioners to create a Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) that welcomes thoughtfully designed solar development and does not limit individual project sizes or location in proximity to other installations.
Warren County has the opportunity to create a UDO that sets an important standard for all future development in Warren County and supports growth that is well-planned and aligns with our community’s needs and goals.
