Currently gas prices are on a rising continuum. During this economical hardship, consumers are struggling to pay for the gas that gets them to their job. A lot of those same consumers are living paycheck to paycheck and barely able to pay their basic living expenses.
With the extreme rise in gas prices, living expenses that are already a struggle to maintain, are becoming almost impossible. The United States has enough of our own resources for oil that if we were to start drilling, would last our country CENTURIES! The use of our own resources would help the economy and help the people in OUR country.
Our president just loaned Brazil 2 Billion dollars for an underwater drilling project in their country. That 2 Billion could have been reserved by using our resources; this is why our government spending is so insanely high- we are paying millions of dollars to foreign countries when we could save millions by using our own products; in turn the consumers will save!
By signing this petition, the people (a true democracy) agree that drilling our own oil resources is the best option to lower the current rise in gas prices.
The middle east depends on business from the U.S. and if we no longer use their resources as our number one source, they would have no choice but to lower their selling cost. Therefore, since we have our own enormous supply of shale and oil, the demand is not as high, which in turn would lower cost throughout the country.
However, our officials are afraid to use our resources. We have a large enough supply to last us CENTURIES; not decades, CENTURIES. This temporary change in the use of resources would not run us dry of our supply, but would help the people and the economy. Until the government can agree on a greater solution between the U.S. and the middle east, we should rid the middle man and use what we have. The officials keep saying they want to help the people during this tough economic time; however they keep raising the price of the the major consumer goods like fuel.
Since work is hard enough to come by and income is not increasing, the PEOPLE are going to keep falling down this awful spiral as long as our main resources remain almost impossible to obtain. Take action because if this country is a true Democracy, our choices matter!
