It has come to my attention that the Chinese White Dolphins (pubically known as the 'Pink Dolphins') are on the verge of extinction.
This is due to the tourism Hong Kong is building up. Not many people seem to give this a thought (it would be hard to beleive the Hong Kong goverment does).
So I beleive that as human beings we should act now! Sign this petition and it can be brought to the attention of someone who can act.
------
Surely we can do better then 198 signatures. The case has grown more serious as there are less then 100 Pink Dolphins left in the wild. These marvelous creatures have no right to make there home in such filthy water, filth does not even describe the water I've seen...you can no longer call it water.
-----------------
August 2006: A new error has made its way on the path of rightenous for these lovely creatures. Ocean Park (a wildlife/ themepark in Hong Kong) has got it into their heads to capture Pink Dolphins and stick them in captivity. Now you may think, Yes thats a good idea....no it isnt!
As I may of explained the Pink Dolphins have a rare habitat consisting of Salt and fresh water, the other animals living in this habitat are the fishes that the dolphins eat. Now this habitat cannot be re-created. Understandebly the dolphins will last longer in the wild then in captivity. It explains here at the Pink Dolphin Society (known as Hong Kong Dolphin Watch) webpage (link given below):

Here is an extract from their webpage about Ocean Park's selfish reasons:
============
Sign petition to prevent buying/catching wild pink dolphins and have them kept in captivity
Recently, a local media reported that Ocean Park, in order to compete with the Hong Kong Disneyland, has submitted a proposal to the Government for buying 33 species of animals, including the pink Chinese White Dolphins. If Hong Kong started to show pink dolphins, places in Mainland China and Southeast Asian countries would follow suit. This would lead to unsustainable catching of dolphins from the wild; the result could be devastating to the already endangered populations. Ocean Park may disguise it as a breeding programme, but decades of experience all around the world has proved that captive breeding simply doesn¡¦t work. Hong Kong Dolphinwatch Ltd is strongly against buying/catching wild pink dolphins and have them kept in captivity. Please read more about "wild vs captivity?" and help to support our petition to prevent this irresponsible act. Thank you!
