Many electricity consumers across Nigeria pay for the electricity they do not consume as a result of estimated electricity billing by power distribution companies who have failed/refused to comply with several directives to ensure that all electricity customers are properly metered. This is a gross violation of consumer rights and amounts to economic exploitation. By virtue of extant electricity regulations in Nigeria, all electricity customers have a right to a transaparent billing system.
