It is understood that the HSE has a plan to close the Rosalie Unit in Castlerea which is HOME to 25 senior citizens with psychiatric issues e.g Alzheimer’s and who are in need of and receive specialist care. The HSE want to close the home and transfer these vulnerable people to homes far and wide and break up their community.
There is huge opposition to this, especially form many of the residents who have no one to advocate for them. Opposition also comes from families, local GP's and the past Clinical Director of Psychiatric Services in the Roscommon region.
Opposition to date has fallen on deaf ears with all the decision makers passing the buck and blaming policies where it is really all about MONEY rather than the care and welfare of the residents.
We the undersigned oppose any plans to close the Rosalie Unit in Castlerea and transfer the residents to various other nursing homes.
We support these most vulnerable members of our society and totally oppose the HSE plans to close their HOME.
