People in St Leonards on sea rely on the services of The main post office in London Road, especially following the closure of the Hastings branch which was re-sited within WH Smiths store in the Priory Meadow Shopping Centre - it has not been easy for people to use it because the queue for service gets confused with the one to buy newspapers etc and we don't want the same thing to happen to our only remaining purpose built post office.
Closing, privatising or relocating the branch will be an enormous and significant loss to the community, staff and particulary elderly customers who need it most.
Please leave this one alone, there is nothing in th area large enough to cope with taking on this provision, bearing in mind that WH Smiths couldn't do it in the town, at least a great many people don't think they provide a comparable service to the one that used to exist.
We, the undersigned, call on the Postal Affairs Minister to try to intercede in this matter and ask the Post Office Counters Ltd think again before taking this action and closing down a very valuable asset to our community.
