Reduce Hydro Delivery and other Charges to Low Density Areas

The Hydro delivery charges to low density areas are extremely high even when there is no extra infrastructure installed to provide Hydro services to these areas. I am writing on behalf of everyone who live in low density areas, hoping that the Premier Kathleen Wynne will look at this and help us reduce the monthly utility costs which run close to 300 dollars a month with normal hydro use 1500 KWH consumption per month and average peak demand. This is equivalent to a car instalment!.

I live on Airport road in Caledon East and the Hydro power line passes directly in front of my house in order to service the neighbouring town of Caledon. Hydro to my house in directly tapped from the main power line. However I pay a hefty price for delivery even though there is no extra effort on the part of Hydro one.

The average Delivery charges on my electricity bill are: 125.29 dollars, The HST on this brings the total to: 141.57. Add to this Regulatory Charges: 10.02, Debt Retire charge: 10.99 and the HST on top of that and you can understand where this is going. I have attached a copy of my hydro bill.

Just because the people living in low density areas do not speak out, does not mean they do not have a voice and does not mean that they don’t feel the pain every month in paying the Hydro bill. If the current prices keep increasing we may not be able to afford electricity any more in this province for the low density areas. We call on the Premier Kathleen Wynne to Reduce the Hydro delivery charges to low density areas and keep in line with regular residential neighbourhoods, when there is no extra infrastructure installed to provide Hydro services to these areas.
