Kids have a right to feel safe when they go to school. Parents have been made aware of a few situations that could have led to great harm. Fights at sporting events and guns brought to school are not where it ends, I have heard of instances of guns being found on students on the bus. Grants have been made available in Georgia for funds to be used to make the schools safer. Why are they not being used to add medal detectors? Another option is to allow the students to have access to lockers and only bring home what is needed for homework in a clear bag.
Parents and students are very concerned as they should be. It is time for the school system to do something BEFORE someone is killed, not after!
We are calling on Franklin County School System to implement safety measures to protect the students, faculty, and staff. This can be done with metal detectors and clear book bags to carry only what is necessary in and out of school, leaving the rest in lockers. We demand changes BEFORE a person is murdered NOT AFTER.
