Protect Christian Pastors in Tamil Nadu and India

Christians are targeted and tortured daily in various parts of India. Many consider Christianity as a foreign religion which should be completely abolished. We wish to let you know what happened last week in a small hill station called Yercaud in Tamilnad. A simple, down-to-earth pastor, Daniel Arasan, who was a Hindu and later came to know the Lord Jesus, had a great burden for orphans and semi-orphans. About 10 years back he started an orphanage and registered it and took a few abandoned boys and girls lawfully under his care. He sent them to the school nearby and also taught them the Word of God. One of the boys in the first batch has studied theology now.

Recently the Government wanted him to have the boys and girls in separate houses. As he could not afford to have a second house he has sent the girls to another hostel. There are about 15 boys with him at present. Pastor Arasan and his wife Mirjam take very good care of them. They are very prayerful. The people around them are mostly Hindus. They do not like to see the children growing in a Christian atmosphere.

Last week in the afternoon when Pastor Arasan was alone in the house, three men had come in suddenly. While two of them held on to him the third man had stabbed and injured him. He had bled profusely. In the same condition he had gone to the Police Station and had made a complaint. We do not know whether any action would be taken.

Now all the other pastors in that area have come together and feel that such an action should not be repeated. The miscreants would attack them too sooner or later. They want protection.
