Sound Shore Road in Northville Beach is a windy, hilly road in a residential neighborhood filled with families, pets, and wildlife. There are no sidewalks on the road and at night there are only a few street lights.
Over the years there have been a number of accidents including a tragic fatality three years ago when Kerry Moran, our neighborhood association's president, was struck by a car.
Since then, the Northville Beach Civic Association (NBCA) has been working hard to lower the speed limit from 35 mph to 25 mph but the NBCA still awaits a positive determination from Suffolk County's Regional Traffic & Safety Engineer, Nancy Kamel. Please sign the petition below and let Ms. Kamel know that you are concerned with the safety of the residents of Sound Shore Road.
I live in/near the community of Northville Beach, Northville NY and support the lowering of the speed limit on Sound Shore Road from 35 mph to 25 mph.
The key objective of a 25 mph speed limit is to encourage more considerate driving, safer roads for our children, less noise pollution and a stronger community.
