A bipartisan group of senators is sponsoring legislation that will allow the seriously ill and suffering to use medical marijuana with their doctors’ recommendations. This bill, SB 3, exactly mirrors the medical marijuana legislation that passed the Senate 43-7 last year. I side with these compassionate senators in supporting medical marijuana legislation and I ask that you do so, too.
It is immoral to continue criminalizing seriously ill patients with multiple sclerosis, cancer, and other serious illnesses who wish to treat their debilitating symptoms with medical marijuana. Their medical use of marijuana is less of a public safety issue than is the legal, prescribed use of opiates. While more than 16,000 Americans die each year from overdosing on prescription painkillers, marijuana has never caused a fatal overdose. It’s time to give these patients a safer treatment option, which, for some, is the only thing that works.
Twenty-three states and D.C. have similar programs that are working quite well. And polls consistently show that more than 80% of us in Pennsylvania now support a medical marijuana program in the Keystone State. I respectfully request that you vote “yes” for medical marijuana at every chance you get.
We residents of Pennsylvania call upon the Government to change the Marijuana policy to legalizing it for both medical and recreational use.
It is proven that the use of marijuana is less harmful than drinking alcohol or taking prescription medication in a lot of ways.
Please pass the bill to legalize marijuana.
