Burlington Junior School has made the decision to close the swimming pool and replace it with extra classrooms needed for pastoral care.
Swimming is an important part of the national curriculum and the closure of this pool will mean children effectively miss out on this convenient and enjoyable lesson, having to travel to another town to take their lessons, and the time restraints on this will ultimately mean less lessons if any.
Given the geographical location of Bridlington, learning to swim is vital for our children, and we believe this pool should not be closed under any circumstances.
We, the underlined, call on the governors and head teacher of Burlington Junior School, and any other party involved in the decision to close Burlington Junior School swimming pool, to reverse the decision and commit to finding other ways to raise the funds needed to keep it open.
