Israeli Attack on Gaza: Protest, Grief and Call for Negotiations

Psychoactive Group – Mental Health Professionals for Human Rights, and the undersigned supporters, condemn the killing of innocents that has being carried out by the state of Israel in Gaza.

We are horrified by the extent of the killing, the destruction, and the violence that we have been witnessing over the past weeks in the Israeli offensive on Gaza. In addition to its being an attack on human lives, we consider this assault as a profound violation of our human values. As therapists we hereby express our profound concern over the physical and mental injuries, current as well as ongoing, that are being inflicted upon the citizens of Gaza. Such traumatization undermines both peoples’ prospects of living in peace and dignity, as well as the possibility of ending the occupation while pulling out of the circles of hatred, fear, and violence.

In addition, we strongly condemn the military assault on the Mental Health Center in Gaza and on other civilian institutions: Schools, universities, mosques, and clinics. We view this assault as a brutal destruction of the civilian infrastructure that has heretofore managed to survive under circumstances of continuous siege.

We condemn any damage caused to the civilian infrastructure in Gaza and in Israel and mourn the price paid by civilians for the absence of a political accord.

We support the workers at the Mental Health Center in Gaza and appreciate our colleagues’ activities for treating civilians and promoting their well-being under impossible circumstances.

We call for an end to the assault on the civilians in southern Israel, who have been enduring missile attacks for years. We believe that the assault on Gaza is not the way to protect Israeli civilians, and that only negotiations for terminating the occupation can provide a means for achieving regional quiescence.

We call for the immediate channeling of resources to repair the damage, for the promotion of civil discussion between the peoples, and for political negotiations to end the occupation.

קבוצת פסיכואקטיב - אנשי בריאות נפש למען זכויות אדם, יחד עם תומכים/ות החתומים/ות מטה, מגנים את הרג החפים מפשע שהתבצע בשבועות האחרונים על-ידי מדינת ישראל בעזה.

אנו מזועזעים ממימדי ההרג, ההרס והאלימות להם אנו עדים בשבועות האחרונים בהתקפה הישראלית על עזה. בנוסף להיותה התקפה על חיי אדם, אנו רואים התקפה זו כפגיעה קשה בערכינו האנושיים. כאנשי מקצועות טיפוליים אנו מביעים דאגה עמוקה לנוכח הפגיעות הגופניות והנפשיות, האקטואליות והמתמשכות, הנגרמות לאזרחי עזה. טראומטיזציה זו מקעקעת את האפשרות של שני העמים לחיות בשלום ובכבוד, את האפשרות לסיים את הכיבוש ולצאת ממעגלים של שנאה, פחד ואלימות.

כמו כן, אנו מגנים בכל לשון את הפגיעה הצבאית במרכז לבריאות הנפש בעזה ובמוסדות אזרחיים נוספים: בתי ספר, אוניברסיטאות, מסגדים ומרפאות. אנו רואים בפגיעה זו הרס ברוטאלי של תשתית אזרחית שהצליחה לשרוד בתנאים של מצור מתמשך.

אנו מגנים כל פגיעה בתשתית אזרחית, בעזה ובישראל, ואבלים על המחירים שאזרחים משלמים על העדר הסדר מדיני.

אנו תומכים בעובדי המרכז לבריאות הנפש בעזה ומעריכים את פועלם של עמיתינו למקצוע בטיפול באזרחים ובקידום רווחתם בתנאים בלתי אפשריים.

אנו קוראים להפסקת הפגיעה באזרחי הדרום של מדינת ישראל שסופגים טילים במשך שנים. אנו סבורים שההתקפה על עזה אינה דרך להגן על האזרחים בישראל וכי רק אמצעים של הידברות יביאו רגיעה לאזור.

אנו קוראים להפניה מיידית של משאבים לשיקום ההרס, לקידום הידברות אזרחית בין העמים ולמשא ומתן מדיני לסיום הכיבוש.

مجموعة بسيخوأكتيف – أخصائيو الصحة النفسية من أجل حقوق الانسان, والداعمون/ات الموقعون/ات أدناه نستنكر قتل الأبرياء الذي قامت اسرائيل به خلال الأسابيع الأخيرة في غزة.

اننا مصدومون من درجات القتل, الهدم والعنف التي شهدناها خلال الأسابيع الأخيرة في الهجوم الاسرائيلي على غزة. بالاضافة الى كونه هجوم على حياة الانسان, نحن نرى بهذا الهجوم اصابة خطيرة بقيمنا الانسانية. كأخصائيي مهن علاجية نحن نعبر عن قلقنا العميق ازاء الاصابات الجسدية والنفسية, الحالية والمستمرة, التي يتعرض لها مواطنو غزة. هذه الصدمة تهدم امكانية الشعبين في العيش بسلام واحترام, امكانية انهاء الاحتلال والخروج من دوائر الكراهية, الخوف والعنف.

بالإضافة إلى ذلك, إننا نستنكر الإصابة العسكرية بمركز الصحة النفسية في غزة وبمؤسسات أخرى للمواطنين: مدارس, جامعات, مساجد وعيادات. نحن نرى بهذه الإصابة هدم وحشي لبنية تحتية مدنية استطاعت أن تصمد تحت ظروف الحصار المستمر.

إننا نستنكر كل إصابة ببنية تحتية مدنية, في غزة وإسرائيل, وإننا حزانى على الأثمان التي يدفعها المواطنون بسبب غياب اتفاق سياسي.

إننا ندعم عاملي مركز الصحة النفسية في غزة ونقدر جهود زملائنا في المهنة في علاج المواطنين وفي تطوير رفاهيتهم تحت ظروف مستحيلة.

إننا ننادي بوقف الإصابة بمواطني جنوب دولة إسرائيل الذين يتلقون الصواريخ لمدة سنوات. نحن نعتقد أن الهجوم على غزة ليس طريقة للدفاع عن المواطنين في إسرائيل وان فقط وسائل الحوار والتفاهم ستجلب الهدوء للمنطقة.

إننا ندعو بتوجيه طاقات فوري لترميم الدمار, لتقديم الحوار المدني بين الشعبين والمفاوضات المدنية من أجل إنهاء الاحتلال
