The amount of overseas imports which are in our shops is getting beyond a joke. There are so many food items which are now made in China, Thailand, Phillipines, Vietnam, Swaziland and other countries. Our Australian farmers and producers are going bankrupt and we'll soon lose our ability to feed ourselves in our own country.
Every time I buy anything, I have to check on where it's made. I can't just check it once, then assume it's a product of Australia, or even made in Australia. I have to check it every single time I buy it, because the country of origin changes from batch to batch.
I'm running this online petition with the view to sending it to every major player in the retail market, as well as to as many relevant government departments as possible.
We, the undersigned, call on the Australian Government and major retailers to provide "Product of Australia" aisles or areas in stores in order that we, as consumers and proud Australians, can truly support our Australian producers and not be duped by "Australian Owned" logos on items which are produced overseas, sending our producers broke.
