We are delighted to announce that Paul Hemmings returned to work on March 25th.
We started the petition to show Paul that the community cared deeply for him, at a time when he and his family were feeling isolated and vulnerable.
In all, 132 people signed up to show their support for Paul, a number described by one educationalist as 'unprecedented' in such a case.
We would like to thank all those who worked hard to allow Paul to return to his rightful place in the community (on the corner of Portland Rd with a lollipop board!), and wish all well in rebuilding bridges over the coming months.
Finally, we would like to state that neither Paul nor his family had any hand in originating this petition nor any knowledge of it prior to its launch.
Paul Hemmings has been suspended from his job as site manager of St Johns school since late November 2007. He is accused of committing fraud. Paul denies the charges.
We believe the case against Paul to be both unfounded and petty-minded and we believe the official support given to him by the school's governing body, the council and his own union over the last 3 months to have been exceedingly poor.
We request a fair hearing for Paul, with proper representation for him, so that our friend can rightfully return to his place at St Johns where he stands as a dearly valued member of our community.
We, the undersigned, would like to register our dissatisfaction with the manner in which the RBoK and the Governors of St Johns have treated Paul Hemmings.
We request a fair hearing for Paul, with proper representation for him, so that our friend can rightfully return to his place at St Johns where he stands as a dearly valued member of our community.
