Expedite the Arrival of Syrian Refugees into Canada

A petition from the Citizens of Canada to the Honourable John McCallum, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship.

Dear Mr. McCallum:

Thank you for your good and faithful service to the people of Canada. We applaud the action that you and the Liberal Government have already taken to process and welcome 25,000 Syrian Immigrants to Canada.

However, since October of 2015 your government has stirred within Canadians a sense of urgency and a call to work in partnership with respect to the settlement of Syrian refugees. This sense of urgency and partnership has moved many Canadian citizens to make preparations which now appear to be a waste of our mission dollars and time.

We understand the difficulty of reassigning staff to process Syrian refugees. We appreciate the need to treat all refugee claimants fairly. However, continued delays and the vague promise of settlement by early 2017 are, in our view, inadequate and contrary to the original spirt of urgency created by the Federal Liberal Party towards Syrian refugees during the last election.
