Raising a pound of meat from livestock (especially cattle) generates 20 to 40 times more greenhouse gases than raising a pound of crops. Greenhouses gases from livestock industry are 51% of the global total. According to a 2006 World Health Organization study, the livestock industry generates more greenhouse gases than the sum from all forms of transportation.
There are numerous books and organization that you may use to upgrade from omnivore to vegan. No kind of diet has been proven to be more conducive to health than a vegan diet that is low in total fat and free of refined carbohydrates.
