Designing a memorial in Alabama in honor of the activism and leadership of the women of the Montegomery Bus Boycott
- Target:
- The Governor of Alabama
- Region:
- United States of America
Back in the 1950's public transporation transits were segregated leaving Blacks sitting in the rear of the bus.
Blacks had to pay at the front and walk off the bus to enter from the back, many times the bus driver will pull off before the Black person had a chance to enter the back of the bus.
We, the undersigned, are requesting that we have a memorial for the women who worked extremely hard to put together the Montegomery Bus boycott in which Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. received most of the credit.
The memorial should be located at 454 S. Dexter Ave. at the Dexter Avenue King Memorial Foundation.
