For too long the price of petrol and diesel in Daventry has been much higher than the surrounding major towns and cities.
Today prices at the town's four petrol stations were 3p or 4p per litre higher than the nearest petrol station in Northampton (Shell, Harpole and Sainsburys) and prices in Rugby, Leicester and Coventry were cheaper still (according to petrolprices.com).
It is time for an investigation to find out why the people of Daventry pay so much more people in neighbouring towns.
We, the undersigned, request that the Office of Fair Trade and Trading Standards investigate why petrol and diesel prices in Daventry are higher than in surrounding towns and cities.
