In the aftermath of the Uvalde school shooting last week, I have noticed that stories about the event have been entirely uncensored despite their traumatizing content. Reading about, hearing about, or learning about traumatizing events can produce trauma symptoms in people. Therefore, I am proposing that social media outlets create a content warning on posts that speak about traumatizing events, especially those posted by news sources.
We, the undersigned, call on social media outlets to create content warnings on posts with traumatizing content.
