每年在日本都有超過二萬隻海豚及小型鯨類被漁船圍捕、魚叉及船 頭捕獵等方法捕殺而死。日本的海豚獵殺行為，以及其背後所引申的動物權益及生態保育問題，已逐漸引起愈來愈多的國際組織關注，包括國際捕鯨協會(IWC)。此外，本年在奧斯卡得獎的紀錄片《海豚灣》赤裸地暴露了日本屠殺海豚的行為，更是進一步地引起了社會大眾的關心。 在過去20年，已有超過40萬隻鯨豚動物在日本水域被殺。其中一種捕獵海豚方法名為「漁船圍捕」，多艘漁船會以漁網把海豚及小型鯨類圍起，再把牠們趕進淺水區域，在灣內的漁民便會把海豚殺死，用作日後製成各類產品。在日本太地(Taiji) 及Futo，大部分海豚都會即場被屠宰，有些被宰殺時仍然清醒。之後，牠們便會被運上貨車，被製成各類肉類製品及肥料。另外，一些年青的海豚則會被「救起」，被賣往各個水族館作表演用途。這正是推動海豚捕殺的主因，很多漁民都承認若不是水族館行業付出高價，他們也不會繼續捕殺海豚。 2010年10月14日是國際反對日本屠殺海豚及小型鯨類的抗議日。全球數以萬計的環保組織代表及個人將會到當地的日本領事館進行和平抗議行動，希望迫使日本停止捕殺海豚。除了參加是次抗議行動外，我們亦呼籲大家簽名聯署本聲明，以表達對日本屠殺海豚行為的不滿。所有簽名經整理後將會轉交日本政府的有關部門。 若需要更多有關資料，請瀏覽以下網址： 日本海豚日：www.SaveTaijiDolphins.org 紀錄片《海豚灣》： www.thecovemovie.com 聯署英文版(English version): http://www.gopetition.com/petition/39742.html read more
