1. Make Jennifer Juan the next UK Poet Laureate

Jennifer Juan should be the next poet laureate to continue the work of those before her, in raising awareness of the great art of poetry, and celebrating the beauty of British culture through literature.

Jennifer has a large following of young fans, and while she could exploit them for profit, instead she has focused on teaching them about poetry, and making poetry accessible to young people.

She writes about all kinds of things, such as mental health, poverty, relationships, world affairs and history.

At a time when we have a female prime minister, a female ruler, why couldn't we have a second female poet laureate and prove that poetry isn't a men's club. Jennifer would also be the first biracial poet laureate, finally bringing more diversity to the role.

Jennifer would be a great successor to Carol Ann Duffy, and would continue her legacy, while also adding her own.

2. Prevent Physical Books From Ever Going Out Of Print

People of the world, do not let the future take away our books. It is a growing issue as the planet advances. E-books are the new thing and therefore less and less phsyical books are being sold. Soon they will be extinct.

Help me prevent this from ever happening! Physical books are a tradition, they are real and beautiful. Help me keep them alive!

3. Give a Nobel Prize in literature to Đorđe Balašević

Đorđe has most beautiful, strongest words in his songs. Those songs aren't just sogs. From every line you can take life lessons.

He has better literature than many declared song writers, poets and other well know artists.

So we want Nobel Prize for HIM and HIS WORK!

6. Pardon Francis Bacon

As main organizer of this petition, I would like to add a brief note. The approach to this petition has been long and tedious; over two years striving continuously to seek for a higher lever of accountability and consistency of websites to host this project.

This petition in the past was once approved to be hosted by 10 Downing Street; however, it only gained 14 signatures over the duration of two years, therefore, a global watch was needed this time, and I personally would like to thank the staff here for hosting this petition once again.

Your support is important, even if you had re-signed in the past, or are not so much involved in Francis Bacon. Please view, acknowledge, and sign this cause.

At the time of its submission, we shall submit it to the Organization that will assist in the cause to re-issue or consider a posthumous pardon to Francis Bacon.

If you have any questions as to why Bacon should be granted a pardon, or hold doubts as to which Organization this petition will be submitted to, you are very welcome to send your inquiries to me by sending me a message here.

Thank you.
Elaine M. Dutton

Please help us restore Francis Bacon’s name and sign this online pardon. Francis Bacon should be recognized and pardoned by the current British government, which will be a just act, well behind schedule.

7. Keep the Cokesbury Bookstore

The Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC), Student Christian League is forming a petition to keep the Cokesbury Bookstore.

1.) Cokesbury provides credit accounts to all ITC students in addition to sizeable discounts.

2.) An online bookstore will give financial stability to the ITC community.

3.) Cokesbury enhances the ITC campus life and provides jobs for the student body.

4.) An online bookstore will enable the students to receive books and other materials delivered to their homes.

5.) Cokesbury provides discounts to all ITC students as well is sponsored by the anchor of the ITC institions constituent seminary Gammon Theological Seminary.

6.) An online bookstore will not comply with the same discounts as the ITC Cokesbury bookstore.

8. Put 'eunoia' in the dictionary!

Eunoia comes from the Greek word εύνοια and it’s the shortest English word containing all five main vowel graphemes. It’s defined in medical dictionaries as ‘well mind’ or a state of normal mental health.

However an alternative translation from the Greek is ‘beautiful thinking’ and that’s the definition Christian Bok is referring to with the title of his book of univocalic poetry. Eunoia contains five chapters of poetry, each of which uses only one vowel – it truly is a masterpiece of ‘beautiful thinking’.

We’re asking Scrabble fans and wordsmiths the world over to sign this petition in an attempt to get the word eunoia listed in The Chambers Dictionary with the definition it deserves.

Just think of how handy it would be next time you’re faced with a Scrabble rack full of vowels…

9. Guidance on the literature made available in libraries

As an aspiring writer who looks to Shakespeare as a role model, I would consider it an honour to present this petition to the Honourable members of the Scottish Parliament with due respect.

Today as we see some of the writers across the world and in the UK, produce literature that are viable to raise roars and threats, a country which prides its freedom of expression cannot shut the doors for the writers, neither can they open doors to the extremists.

But writers who use racial discrimination and gender discrimination as their motif should be seriously punished so that no other writer does that and that the literature that the future British generation is reading, does not promote the same traits in them. If not done, this would lead to the promotion of the values which the British flag does not promote; as UK is and has been the main source of literature for the rest of the world.
What should be our stance in such a situation?

I propose that we should have a legislation passed that sees that both the writers and the readership living in the UK are not disturbed and that peace and harmony can be maintained in the UK. If we are to give our next generation quality literature to read then I believe that this petition should be the first step in doing so.

I propose the following for the petition and anticipate that the Honourable members of the Scottish Parliament will approve of the petition:

1. Freedom of speech is the basic right of every writer.

2. In case of threat, necessary arrangements must be made to ensure the protection of the life, property and career of the writer.

3. Writer involved in any genre should not commit any of the following during his or her writing, and the educational authorities and institutes should see to it that no such work be published in any form:
• Defaming the deities of any religion, including the prophets and saints of that religion and this extends to the families of the prophets and saints
• Degrades any Royal household, including all form of use of words.
• Uses any elements of discrimination in his writing
• Promotes religious hatred.

4. In the event that a writer is found involved in such activities, the following penalties may be imposed.
• Request for the imprisonment and further legal actions sent to the UK Government.
• Request for the honours to be conferred sent to the UK Government.
• Request for the financial penalties sent to the UK Government.

5. The writer must act accordingly to protect him or her being penalized by the law.

10. Classical Chinese should be maintained

Classical Chinese should be maintained.

Simplified Chinese is NOT part of the Chinese culture or heritage.

It is made out just for conveneince sake for those who cannot read clasical Chinese and it has no literature value.

11. Yes to Teacher's Free Speach!

A literature teacher from Pepperell High School, who takes modern events and compares them with English literature has been told he can no longer do that. It has been said that because of recent events that his political views could be offensive. I am a student of his class and highly disagree with this statement. Although he tells us what he believes he has never asked us to accept these beliefs ourselves. I think by gagging him on this it is binding our ability to learn. I myself have learned more in this class than the rest of my High School career, and the rest of my class is in agreeance with me. I feel that if we stand by and let this be done the next thing we know our free speech will be gone. I will greatly appreciate your support in this matter. Thank you for your time.
