Zimbabwe Freedom of Expression and Opinion Day Request - 08 September

This is a PEOPLE DRIVEN petition spearheaded by Zimbabwe Institute For Free Expression (ZIFFE). The petition is to kindly ask Zimbabwe leaders to consider giving Zimbabweans an official public day where citizens celebrate their differences. The day - Freedom of Expression and Opinion Day requested is 08 September which is the day when ZIFFE opened an online facebook group that we are using as a platform to promote freedom of expression and opinion.

Freedom of Expression and Opinion supporters are encouraged to sign the petition as the day is important for everyone and celebrated by everyone despite our differences. This is a day for EVERYONE. A day to TOLERATE and APPRECIATE our differences as Zimbabweans. A UNITY day united by our differences. The petition will be handed over to Zimbabwe Government Leaders and Zimbabwe Parliament to consider.

ZIFFE is not a Political Organisation but is an institutional Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) that represents the needs of civic society in as far as human rights are concerned ,specifically Freedom of Expression and Opinion.

ZIFFE supports opportunities for free expression training and strives to encourage people to speak out and share their views be it at home or at work without fear of victimisation.

ZIFFE promotes and defends our rights to free expression and opinion. We strongly believe that speaking out freely breeds peace and gives birth to democratic societies. Everyone, Everywhere has the right to be heard and to enjoy freedom of expression and opinion.

ZIFFE promotes peace and unity through tolerance of different views. We strive to encourage people to speak out and share their views socially, culturally and politically and we denounce all forms of voice oppression as this breeds violence.

ZIFFE educates on what entails Freedom of Expression and Opinion and the importance of free expression in society and the need to respect it so we are very active in supporting efforts to enhance freedom of expression and opinion in Zimbabwe.

ZIFFE also seeks to harness innovative mechanisms to promote Freedom of Expression and Opinion through new technologies and traditional ways. We foster national and international collaboration in the use new technologies to promote unity, peace and democracy through the promotion of free expression everywhere for everyone.
