With a population of 21,789 recorded in 2001 increasing to 27,603 in 2011, currently to date we could have a population of approx 34,000. With this growth and the possibility of another 2,600 homes being built how much longer will it be before Yate and Chipping Sodbury becomes gridlocked. During different times of the day getting from one side of town to the other can take 15-20mins. Nibley Lane is an example of increased volume of traffic. It needs upgrading to a main road, with a review of road markings and rules. Road to nowhere needs to made use off. Yate link road, station Road and Kennedy way, becomes one way, the roundabouts are in place for this to happen.
We, the undersigned, call upon our local councils to consider the future of our towns road infrastructure before Yate and Chipping Sodbury become grid locked. These towns our growing with no consideration of relief roads or plans to change our existing infrastructure . As a result our current roads and lanes are at breaking point.
