To who it may concern:
It has come to our attention that the proposed bell schedule has been changed from a Block schedule, in which students had periods 1-4 on an "A" day and periods 5-8 on a "B" day, to a schedule which requires students to attend 7 consecutive classes in one day. This new schedule makes it impossible for students to-
a) have assigned homework completed by the following day without loss of sleep or participation of school related events. This schedule is unfair to those who provide for their families and have jobs.
b) absorb quality information of what the class is meant to teach. (teacher's name, class) aggrees that the information from his/her class would be incomplete and crammed to the point where the students will not recieve the concept of the assignment.
c) have a class such as athletics, culinary arts ect.ect.ect.(these courses help with the students choice of career) without taking from a core class that MUST be attended.
The new schedule also is unfair to those who -
a) have planned a 4 year plan with their counselor, and need all 8 periods to complete their planned high school career.
b) need tutorials to better thier performance in a class. with the block scheduling allowed 4 opportunities for tutorials, the proposed schedule has only 2 for 7 classes.
We, the undersigned, call on the Wylie School Board to eliminate the possibility of changing the scheduling process of WHS.
