Halal meat is being sold in our supermarkets and restaurants without our knowledge! The British Retail Consortium refuse to label the meat or products containing the halal meat and I quote from a Daily Mail publication dated 8th May 2014:
"The British Retail Consortium (BRC), which speaks for most supermarkets, responded to the criticism by saying a change to labels is unnecessary.
Andrew Opie, the food director at the BRC, said: ‘We have not seen evidence that this is what people want to see. Labels are very tight in terms of the space and what we can put on them. This has to be driven by evidence to show that people want to see it alongside the things that are already on it like durability, country of origin and price.’"
Let's show them what we think! Let's GIVE them the EVIDENCE!
We, the undersigned, call on the British Retail Consortium to label all meat products of Halal and Kosher origin in a clear way, so that we, the public may have a CHOICE as to what we are consuming.
It is one of our basic human rights to have choice. Please do not deny us that!
