We reject Royal Committee, request UN Committee

We are the signatories, request the United Nations to insist on sending a neutral UN committee to Bahrain and refuse the current committee assigned by the 'king" of Bahrain, for several reasons:

1- We question the impartiality of the Committee due to the fact that the king is one who formulated this committee and as such the final investigation will be submitted to him. We hold the King and royal family responsible for the violations of human rights in Bahrain.

2- Everyone wonders why the investigation only on the events that occurred during the months February and March? What about the events that occured during the period of April till end of June? There were many violations of human rights committed during this period of time.

3- People are afraid to contact this committee for fear of retaliation like what happened to those who spoke to the media especially if they gave personal details.

4- The committee looks mysterious, doubtful and has no clear means of contact such as email or website to contact them directly.

5- In the last few days we received news from inside the prison that the government improved the situation somewhat in prison. This means that the regime adjusted the conditions just before committee’s visit.

We appreciate if you take our concerns on this committee appointed by the king as a case sensitive to the fate of Bahraini people.

نحن الموقعون على هذه العريضة نطلب من الأمم المتحدة أن تصر على إرسال لجنة تحقيق محايدة ورفض اللجنة الحالية المعينة من قبل ملك البحرين للأسباب التالية ..

1- بما أن ملك البحرين هو الذي عين هذه اللجنة، فإن لدينا شكوكاً حول مصداقية هذه اللجنة وخصوصاً أن التقرير النهائي سيُرفع للملك الذي نعتبره أحد المسؤولين عن الانتهاكات الخطيرة لحقوق الإنسان والتي تعرض لها شعب البحرين.

2- أن الشكوك تدور حول الأسباب في حصر عمل هذه اللجنة للأحداث التي مرت بها البحرين في شهر فبراير ومارس، فماذا عن الانتهاكات التي حصلت في فترة الشهور التالية أبريل، مايو، ويوليه؟ إن الكثير من الانتهاكات حدثت في الأشهر التالية والتي تستوجب النظر فيها.

3- هناك مخاوف من الاتصال المباشر بهذه اللجنة لما قد يتعرض له الناس من انتقام من قبل السلطات البحرينية وخصوصاً مع الأخذ بالاعتبار ما حدث للذين تحدثوا مع الإعلام المحلي أو الخارجي وخصوصاً إذا ما أعطوا تفاصيل خاصة عنهم.

4- أن هذه اللجنة يكتنفها الغموض والشكوك ولا توجد طريقة واضحة للتواصل المباشر معها كالإيميل أو صفحة الكترونية .

5- منذ عدة أيام وصلتنا أخبار من السجن أن السلطة حسنت من الوضع في السجن وهذا يثير المخاوف أن هناك محاولات للتعتيم والخداع على اللجنة لما يتعرض له المساجين من انتهاكات خطيرة.

لذلك نرفض هذه اللجنة المعينة من الملك ونرجوا أن تأخذوا هذه الأمور بعين الاعتبار لما لهذه القضية من حساسية في تحديد مصير شعب البحرين.
