Vline Bendigo Patrons Sunbury Petition

On the 18th November, 2012 Metro services commenced on the Sunbury line. This new Metro Service from Sunbury to Southern Cross and beyond, should have eased the congestion on the V/Line Services. This is not the case.

Unfortunately the V/Line conductors are only allowed to “Encourage Sunbury Metro passengers” to catch the new Sunbury Metro service and hence these “Sunbury Metro Passengers” are still allowed to catch the V/Line Services.

The new V/Line train time tables clearly show that when V/Line stop at Sunbury be it either in the morning (drop off only) or in the afternoon (pick-up only). The Metro sign at Sunbury Station shows “V/LINE SERVICE - NOT TAKING SUBURBAN PASSENGERS”.

Why then are we V/LINE passengers forced to still deal with the now “Sunbury Metro Passengers” who seem to be getting the best of both worlds. That would be FREE Travel. The V/Line Passengers have noted that these Sunbury Metro Passengers are not swiping their MYKI Cards when exiting Sunbury station in the evening. There are no Metro Authorised Officers on the V/Line train or at Sunbury station to check that these Sunbury Metro Passengers have a valid ticket.

When the Craigieburn line was electrified, from day one there was no option to catch a V/Line Service; you had to catch a Metro Service.

If V/LINE Passengers do not speak up now, who knows how long V/Line Passengers will have to contend with Sunbury Metro Passengers catching the V/Line Services.

Let’s stop this now.. Please sign this petition and let V/Line, PVT and the Government know that V/Line Passengers are not happy with this non-decision.

Let’s aim for when the V/Line Train Passenger services no longer carry Sunbury Metro Passengers.
