Since December of 2022, more than 20 whales have died on East Coast beaches, including a rare Right Whale on Virginia Beach (only 350 are left in the wild). We are concerned, and Biden Administration Scientists have raised alarms, that offshore wind farm development may be harming the whales. And it’s not only whales; US Wildlife and Fisheries Service estimates that hundreds of thousands of birds are killed each year by wind turbines. Dominion Energy is about to industrialize with massive wind turbines one of the largest areas off the beautiful Virginia Beach coastline. Not only an eyesore, but a potentially dangerous threat to our marine wildlife. Our petition asks our Virginia US Senators and Congressmen to impose a pause on further industrialization off the Atlantic Coast until the dangers to our wildlife are fully understood. Please sign today!
We, the undersigned, call on Virginia's U.S. Senators and House of Representatives members to support a pause in the industrialization of Virginia's coastal regions until the potential damage to the whale and wildlife population is more fully studied and to ensure that development of a massive offshore wind farm will not cause the death of these wonderful, fragile endangered species.
We, the undersigned, request a pause to study the impact so we don't repeat the same mistakes of the past - a pause so we can be sure - before it is too late!
Thank you for considering this important issue to all of us!
