Tony Wood A.K.A Victor the Viking has been the Canberra Raiders NRL mascot since 1983. He's brought enthusiasm, fun, joy, excitement, support, and passion to the Green Machine and it's fan base for 26 YEARS...STRAIGHT! I'm only 18! He is the heart and soul of the Canberra Raiders. He has been there for all of the highs and lows yet still puts a smile on everyone's faces (even if we were fading away in the 76th min). I'm sure nearly every Raiders fan will have a plethora of memories of Tony's mascot-perfection. He had a Heart Attack in October 2015 and his first game back was in 36-degree heat for goodness sake. He's the definition of a legend. Games at Canberra GIO Stadium simply wouldn't be the same without Tony Wood and to put it frankly, there are no Canberra Raiders without Tony Wood and Victor the Viking. He is BY FAR the BEST mascot in the NRL and I say in the WORLD for his dedication, passion, and ability to make anyone smile. For all that he has done, I strongly believe that he deserves a statue at GIO Stadium and be company to the great Mal Meninga and Laurie Daley
Seeing him take off the headpiece and celebrating as loud and as proud as he could in front of 26.5k people vs the Bunnies is one of my favourite memories ever.
