On October 1, 2013 at 12:01am, the United States Government partially shutdown due to the inability of each political party to come to an agreement regarding the Federal Budget.
Since this shutdown began it has caused much hardship amongst the American people throughout the entire Country and of all backgrounds. But I would like to bring up the effects it have already or will soon come to affect the millions of Veterans and their families. We have already seen burial benefits not being able to be paid to the families of Soldiers who have paid the ultimate price for this Country.
And if this shutdown continues millions of Veterans and their families are not going to be able to pay for their basic needs like for rent and food. Every other sector of our society has been deleteriously affected as well or will be as the effects of the Shutdown trickle down and ripple through each day.
Dear President Obama, White House staff, and members of Congress,
We, the undersigned, ask you to do everything within your power to fully re-open the United States Government TODAY. And even with your different political affiliations, that you as a whole focus on what is best interest of our Country and our citizens.
Please hear us and do what is best for the population at large, which includes re-opening all government services and keeping the economy alive by modifying your agenda, and cease to leave innocent people out in the cold.
