Using of Helmets Organization

We are an organization, the Using of Helmets Organization, who had collaborated with Road Accident Victims Protection Company Limited in order to raise the awareness of using helmets while riding or driving a motorcycle. Thailand have been considered the deadliest country for motorcycles, resulting in 73% of traffic-related deaths involve motorcycles. However, in 2012 a survey showed that out of all motorcycle accidents only 43% wore helmets.

Witthaya Chartbanchachai, head of the World Health Organization (WHO) accident prevention center, said the situation in Thailand was regarded as serious. The WHO expressed its concern that 23% of victims from motorcycle accidents were between 15 and 44 years of age. Compared to other nations in the ASEAN region , Thailand has earned 6 out of 10 in enforcement of helmet law. For example, Singapore and Vietnam scored 9 while Indonesia and Laos scored 8.

The purpose of this petition is to raise awareness about the importance of wearing helmets. Not only will you be following the law, but you will be able to protect your brain and head from possible lethal accidents and brain injury. Not only does the helmet protect your head and brain, but it can also protect against face injuries that can be extremely painful and disfiguring. Wearing a helmet can also save you financially considering the hospital bills. Even if you believe that bike accident was the fault of the other driver, if you weren’t wearing a helmet during the time of the accident the other party would be able to pin the fault on you and your injuries. Carrying a helmet may be cumbersome and a nuisance, but if you want to protect yourself from any accidents while driving or riding, a helmet is worth wearing.
