As a concerned frequent flier, I am seeking collective attention and urgent action against the recurring, unacceptable practices of Air Canada.

On the 7th of July 2023, I experienced firsthand the distressing consequences of Air Canada's negligent behavior when my flight from New York to Toronto was unceremoniously canceled without any justifiable reason, leaving me and numerous other passengers stranded and confused.

What began as a promising journey, initially handled by Delta Airlines without complications, quickly turned into a nightmare when I arrived at LaGuardia for my connecting flight with Air Canada. The lack of transparency and accountability demonstrated by the Air Canada representatives at the front desk was deeply troubling. Their inability to provide clear answers and practical solutions left passengers, including myself, in a state of helplessness and frustration.

Myself and dozens of other passengers tried to get answers from the front desk AirCanada representatives who seemed to barely know more than we did about the situation. Numerous people had their flights rebooked for between 12 to 72 hours after the cancellation resulting in some canceling their trip, while others - like me, had to book hotels, or resorted to driving to Toronto instead of waiting. One of the passengers, who was traveling for the first time from France to Toronto through the U.S. was completely panicked, not sure what she should do, as the AirCanada staff was of no help at all in redirecting people and accommodating them.

Regrettably, this was not an isolated incident. Various reports from trusted news publications including the Toronto Sun, and CBC as well as well as fellow travelers on various websites point to a pattern of Air Canada delaying flights for nefarious reasons, denying accountability and arbitrarily blaming cancellations on weather related complications and a refusal to compensate passengers by blaming all delays on weather or safety concerns. Those reports also present evidence of Air Canada employees being encouraged to mislead passengers, and discourage them from taking action. In our case, giving a pamphlet that gave us no practical information, and phone numbers that made it close to impossible to get a human representative on the line.

The trust we place in airlines, both local and international, is based on the belief that our safety, comfort, and time commitments will be respected. It is wholly unacceptable for passengers to be deceived, disrespected, exposed to harm, and left stranded without proper explanations or compensation. As patrons of the aviation industry, we demand accountability and swift action to rectify these recurring issues.

This petitioned open letter seeks immediate and effective measures to address these grave concerns. If you have been in a similar situation with Air Canada, I urge you to join me in signing this letter to address these urgent concerns.

I wholeheartedly encourage you to share your experiences in the comments here. Also, if you would like to add evidence to this petition, please message me through this website and I will share a Drive link with you.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this urgent matter. We expect to see significant progress in addressing these concerns and restoring our confidence in the airline's commitment to passenger welfare.

We, the undersigned, are petitioning for compensation, access to reports, and an investigation to hold Air Canada accountable for their actions and ensure passenger rights are respected in the aviation industry.

AirCanada cancels flights for questionable reasons, leaving passengers stranded. Their lack of transparency and accountability is troubling, and numerous reports suggest a pattern of delays and cancellations with no valid explanations.

We, the undersigned, demand the following actions:

1. Compensation for all expenses incurred by passengers due to flight cancellations and delays with Air Canada on the affected flights.
2. Full access to technical and weather reports used to inform the decision to delay or cancel flights, ensuring transparency in the decision-making process.
3. A thorough and impartial investigation into the validity of the reasons provided for the cancellations flagged as "safety concerns," "weather concerns," and "crew constraints."
4. If the reasons for these cancellations are proven false, a formal apology from Air Canada and appropriate sanctions to be imposed by the FAA, Transport Canada, U.S. Department of Transportation, and the ICAO.

We respectfully request that you take immediate action on this matter and uphold the values of transparency, safety, and passenger rights within the aviation industry.
