The number of uninsured will increase by 22 million Americans under the Senate Republican leadership’s Better Care Reconciliation Act, which is only slightly better than the U.S. House of Representatives American Health Care Act, the Congressional Budget Office said Monday.
“ By 2026, 49 million people would be uninsured, compared with 28 million (under ACA) who would lack insurance that year,” the CBO said of the bill, pushed by Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell as a replacement for the Affordable Care Act.
The AHCA would cause 23 million Americans to lose coverage by 2026, the CBO said last month. In the Senate and House bills, most of those losing health benefits would come from a rollback of the ACA's Medicaid expansion.
Critics were quick to emerge once the CBO released its new analysis of the Republican effort to replace the ACA.
We the undersigned citizens of the United States Of America demand that our duly elected representatives to the U.S Senate and U.S. House Of Representatives do their duty as we see fit and repair the current law of the United States known as "The Affordable Care Act" in the best interest of Health and Welfare of all United States Citizens.
We demand that our duly elected representatives act together in a bi-partisan fashion and correct any issues with the aforementioned legislation.
