Colin Pitchfork was jailed for 33 years for the rape and murder of two teenage girls. After careful consideration of his case, the Parole Board decided to release him in September 2021. But Pitchfork violated his parole conditions on his licence and returned to prison two months later.
The Parole Board is due to reevaluate Pitchfork's situation in the Autumn 2022 to determine if he remains in jail, in open jail, or if he should be released again.
It seems that an important element is overlooked in this story: Colin Pitchfork is psychologically ill, which means that his crimes were not his responsibility.
Colin Pitchfork's place is not in prison where the traits of his illness are certainly worsening. Colin Pitchfork deserves to live free and to receive all the help he can get to continue his life in the most fulfilling way possible.
We, the undersigned, call on the British Minister for Justice to authorise the release of Colin Pitchfork and demand more serious psychological care than he has received so far.
