Alexander Larsson, maintainer of the Nautilus software project, is rejecting the trashcan ejection functionality known from your iMac for no obvious reason. Note that there is a statement from Alex available, explaining why he rejected this request:

http://mail.gnome.org/archives/nautilus-list/2005-July/msg00159.html

We're convinced that these points are not valid, because instead of displaying an error dialog, the obvious intention of the user could have succeeded in the first place.

We're asking him to include this feature into Nautilus, since every other mean of communication (bugzilla, mailing list) failed.

Hereby, we demand for trashcan ejection functionality in the Nautilus file manager, which is part of the GNOME project.

We think it's cool, context menus suck and Apple has it. Especially for the last reason, it is to be considered 7337.

Also, insulting dialogs telling the users that from a technical POV we could do what he/she obviously wants, but we won't for political, isn't very friendly. Instead, we consider this insulting and inhuman.
