This is a petition to get traffic lights installed at the junction of Blackwood Road and Washington Road. On the 13th March 2010, 11 year old Kaitlyn Weldon was knocked down and killed whilst crossing the road at this junction.
Living nearby, I've seen many other accidents happen here over the years and I think it's about time Sunderland Council came forward and did something about it. The junction is used by hundreds of children and parents every day during the school run as well as on a night time and because of the road being so busy all day long it's no wonder so many accidents occur.
How many tragic accidents will it take for the council to do something about it?
I'd be really grateful if you could sign this petition and pass it on to friends and family and hopefully we can make it a lot safer for everybody in the local area.
