Residents, school parents, churchgoers, ward councillors and other road users have tried for more than 4 years to get the relevant authority to upgrade the Atterbury and De Villebois Mareuil intersection to accommodate the huge traffic load.
Apart from being a major intersection, 2 large schools, a church and shopping complex are adjacent to the intersection. The result is traffic chaos on a daily basis. We have heard so many reasons why the intersection cannot be upgraded as well as conflicting status updates.
We cannot wait for developers to do this. What we know is that we as tax payers have a right to demand action.
We, the undersigned taxpayers, request urgent intervention by the City of Tshwane as well as Gautrans, to finalise and upgrade the intersection of Atterbury and De Villebois Mareuil with the appropriate traffic lights and traffic flow measures, that will reduce the huge traffic load experienced on a daily basis. Decent traffic flow is a trait of a city of excellence.
