In recent months, the public housing estate is growing along Buangkok Crescent such as the new flats at Buangkok Parkvista, Buangkok Square, Buangkok Edgeview, Buangkok Tropica and the upcoming Buangkok Woods. According to the HDB website, the total number of units from these 5 estates amounted to close to 2894 units. Buangkok Crescent lacks amenities and residents either take a shuttle bus services to Hougang Interchange or the Giant supermarket at Blk 982 Buangkok Crescent to shop for their daily necessities. With the opening of the mall at Buangkok Square on 17th February 2019, I believe it will be a bustling neighbourhood centre for the residents around the Hougang area where there will be more choices for them to shop and dine. Currently, the residents along the Buangkok Crescent estate have to rely on our sole bus service 329 to Hougang interchange for them to transfer to take the MRT. The current situation for the morning and evening peak hours is that residents would need to wait for 10 to 12 minutes for bus to arrive. Often, the bus stop in front of Blk 998B will be packed with people waiting for bus service 329.
We understand that our Adviser to Jalan Kayu, Dr Intan Azura Mokhtar, has already shared with LTA the feedback and concerns residents living in Buangkok estate, She has requested for an additional bus stop (along Buangkok Crescent) and to re-route the bus service 101 so that it will go into Buangkok Crescent. This will ensure 2 bus services are plying through Buangkok Crescent itself.
We, the undersigned, feel strongly to improve the transportation along Buangkok Crescent. We believe that bus services are insufficient and there is a severe lack of choice to residents in the area. It is for this reason that we have come together as a community to encourage service providers such as LTA to support us and recognise demand for such improvement.
