The Mayor of Doncaster Mr Martin Winter is in his second term as the directly Elected Mayor of Doncaster, under his stewardship Doncaster has progressed and moved forward and is now much more prosperous than just five years ago.
In 2006 there has been excessive opposition to the Mayoral System with petitions being organised calling for his removal.
We, the undersigned, being registered electors of Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council, support the directly elected Mayoral system in Doncaster and call upon the council and the electorate to endorse Mr Martin Winter as the Mayor of Doncaster in his second term and, in the future, in his third term.
We support the democratic process of choosing a mayor to lead our council on our behalf.
