The Kwara State Government to return the nine disputed villages to the Sharagis

A petition to stop the war and implement the location / position of some villages with respect to the 1976 Description of Edu and Ifelodun Local Government Areas in Kawara State Nigeria.

Sir,

Determination of the location / position of some villages with respect to the 1976 Description of Edu and Ifelodun Local Government Areas.

Contrary to you letter dated 13/1/2010 on the above matter to the chairman of Edu and Ifelodun Local Government Area, I`ll as a patriot of my community want to bring to your information these fundamental facts.

2. The content of 1976 report on Tsaragi and Share boundary adjustment commission section 177 to 179 pages31 states that:

Section 177: “The dispute arose because of an ill-defined boundary between the Share (mostly Yorubas) and the Sharagis (mostly Nupes) and over the ownership of nine villages transferred to share during a 1946 re-organization exercise. Share disputed Sharagi claims to there villages and asked instead that the village of Kangye be taken from sharagi and annexed to her.

Section 178: Both sides claimed that on historical grounds, they were the first to settle there but the Nupes admitted being out-numbered by Yoruba Shares. When both communities where part of Ilorin Division, there was a minimal friction but when the two communities found themselves in different Administration Divisions, their relationship became gradually strained.

Section 179: The Commission carefully examined both claims and made a physical inspection of the two towns and their boundary area before it came to the view, and accordingly recommended to Kwara State Government, that the boundary between the two towns be effectively demarcated. It further advised the Kwara State Government to return the nine disputed villages to the Sharagis if they were proved to be Nupe villages. Government notes the Commission`s advices to Kwara State Government.’’

3. In line with the above facts, the nine communities where proofed to be Nupe communities and as such the Government of Kwara State should and most implement the commission report if peace most prevailed.
