The Governments LIVING IT MY WAY - OUR KIDS

The government's LIVING IT MY WAY approaches are not designed for children between the ages of 0-6 years old. Children need early intervention with services as soon as possible. The last thing parents want to be doing is contacting services who are going to promise the world just to get there business.

Research has shown that families are strengthened and leave Early Intervention as strong advocates for their children because early intervention provides them with a platform where they do not feel so isolated and alone.

We need to send the NSW Government a message as your new LIVING IT MY WAY maybe good for older people living with a disability but for our children it’s not going to work. Our special children need the same routine, people that understand what it’s like to feel when your child has just been diagnosed. The GOVERNMENT SHOULD NOT change something that is not broken....

Please let’s fight them on this! After finding out that your precious child is different now will we have to every year PROVE that they are still disabled? If they are disabled yesterday they will be today and still tomorrow. How is your assessment going to work? Will I have to put my child through more testing to get the funding that they need? Will it be means tested? Who will get the priority? How do you judge who needs it more than another?

It is interesting to note that Europe has trialled this individual funding and it has failed and is now moving back to block funding. Why should we embrace something that we know doesn’t work.

How can you build a house with first having a strong foundation! LIVING IT MY WAY is not the foundation we need for our children’s future.
