Taft ISD Dress Code

We, the undersigned, call on Taft Independent School District Board of Trustees to change the uniform dress code for Petty Elementary, East Elementary, and Taft Junior High be changed. We would like to have the following dress code for the following reasons.

Dress Code:
 Any solid color Polo style shirt or any color spirit shirt
 5 pocket blue or black jeans or shorts
 khaki or blue slacks or shorts
 Capri pants for girls

Reasons for change
 Promote school spirit
 Girls are more comfortable with jeans than khaki slacks during certain times of the month
 Jeans are more durable than khaki slacks
 Jeans are available throughout the school year, whereas, khaki slacks are not.
 The availability of one color shirt is harder to find.
 The cost of buying the proposed clothing is cheaper than the current uniform because students can wear school close outside of school.
