Al-Hira Educational mosque and community centre has been issued with an Enforcement Notice. This Notice was issued on behalf of Newham Borough Council which requires the demolition of the building.
This centre is popular amongst the local Muslim community. Muslims make up 60% of the population of Newham. This centre has provided adequate facilities to pray five times a day.

We, the undersigned residents of the local area and the users of the Al-Hira Education Centre, 241 Plashet Road, E13 0QU, are extremely concerned that the Council has served an Enforcement Notice, stopping ongoing construction works at the Centre.
The building is almost near completion and we feel such an action at this late stage is unwarranted and has caused serious anxiety amongst the Centre users.
We urge the Council to recognise the role that this Centre is playing in the local community, suspend the Enforcement Notice and work with the Managing Body of the Centre and its professional advisors to resolve any planning issues amicably to avoid unnecessary delays, inconvenience and costs for the wider benefits of the local communities.
