The Town of Moriah does not have a public dog park at present, where pet owners could take their canines to play and enjoy the outdoors.
We started a Facebook group to garner support for a dog park, similar to the one in nearby Ticonderoga, New York. It quickly had more than 100 members.
Our desire is to acquire one or two acres of land, fence and develop it, and turn it over to the Town of Moriah for the dog park.
We wish to establish a fenced-in, off leash area where Moriah area residents can let their adopted well-behaved canines exercise and play with other adopted canines in a clean, safe environment without endangering or annoying people, property or wildlife.
We want to develop a beautiful, well-maintained space open to all Moriah area taxpaying canine lovers and friends who are willing to uphold the park’s rules and restrictions.
We view this park as a community project, in partnership with the Town of Moriah, designed to satisfy the needs of Moriah area dog-owners and non–dog owners alike.
We ask that the Moriah Town Council and town supervisor pass a resolution supporting the creation of a public dog park that would ultimately be owned by the municipality.
