Passage of this bill will shrink Michigan's meth lab problem as it has in Oregon and Mississippi by returning pseudoephedrine to a prescription drug.
The ONDCP has reported the success of returning PSE to a prescription as prevention strategy in the war on meth labs.
In contrast, they report electronic tracking (MethCheck) is ineffective at controlling the number of meth labs and burdensome on law enforcement, court systems, health care, child welfare services, etc. bringing additional tragedy and increased costs to the states where it has been implemented.
We, the undersigned, call on the Michigan legislature to return pseudoephedrine to schedule III prescription status as it was before 1976.
