Support the dedication of Thornwood's softball and baseball fields

On the heels of the 25th anniversary of Thornwood High School's dual softball and baseball title teams, members of those teams are advancing the dedication of their respective varsity fields in honor of former head coaches Gary Lagesse and John Dunlop. Coach Lagesse retired in 2006 after 35 seasons, 694 wins, and 3 state championships. Coach Dunlop retired in 2005 after 19 seasons, 439 wins, and 1 state championship.

Gary and John's leadership produced not only professional players and Olympians, but countless college players who continued their careers past the high school level. Although a dedication of the fields would be ceremonial in nature, the honor would be a permanent indicator for future generations of ball players reflecting the influence and guidance that both Gary and John expressed to their players as they followed them onto those fields.

On June 8th, the District has their next scheduled board meeting. We are hoping to gather as many signatures as possible to present to the board for consideration and a final vote. If enough signatures are presented, there is a chance that the board will take a vote in advance of the June 11th reunion.
