Thank you to all who supported the effort to construct a camp at Campbell Ranch. The county commissioners voted unanimously to decline the neighborhood's appeal.
Unfortunately they have filed an intent to appeal to Bernallilo District Court.
No camping will be held at the property until this issue is resolved.
Once again thank your for supporting the youth in our community.
In 1997, the Campbell Ranch Corporation donated 40 acres to the Great Southwest Council for the purpose of constructing a camp for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Some residents oppose the idea because of the threat of fire, noise, and traffic.
Our message to the community is our members will obey all laws pertaining to fire, be good stewards of the land entrusted to us and keep quiet hours in the evening as a show of respect to our neighbors.
We volunteers and youth of the Great Southwest Council, Boy Scouts of Amercia call on the Bernalillo County Commissioners to uphold the decision to approve the conditional use for the development of a scout camp at Campbell Ranch, 132 Sandia Crest Road.
Furthermore, we pledge to follow all laws, regulations and rules pertaining to fire, wildlife, traffic, lighting, and quiet hours when using the property with our Scouts.
